Wow! I was excited going in to Mad Max last night. I was expecting something crazy and strange. I got that, only ten times more crazy and strange than I thought. And that is a very, very good thing.
I saw the three Mel Gibson Mad Maxes a long time ago. I don’t remember much except for snippets (the end of #1, the hockey mask guy and tanker chase in #2, the Thunderdome and a bunch of kids in #3). So your mileage may vary but for me, Tom Hardy more than fills Mel Gibson’s shoes. He is amazing. He only has about ten lines in the whole movie but he really doesn’t need to say anything more for us to know what he’s thinking because we are thinking the exact same thing (usually, “What the hell is happening?”). Max isn’t crazy, he’s us. And together we go on a mind-blowing ride through his world/what’s left of ours.
I really don’t want to say anything more. Just see this movie for yourself. I am not promising you will like it (though if you like seeing shit blow up this has to be the one to see in 2015). But they really threw everything into this and made a spectacle. And it is glorious.
Mad Max: Fury Road earns a well deserved rating of 44 chrome-mouthed trips to Valhalla out of ten.
Awesome review. Watching this one tonight and I’m REALLY excited!

I’ve heard good things about it. My newly 15-year-old wants to go, but I’m not so sure about that. I pick and choose the R-rated movies he watches, and from what I’ve read on the parent media sites, this one might be too much. But I plan to see it. What a mean mom I am.

Long on action, short on story and that’s okay. You’ll be picking sand out of your hair for weeks.

Yeah – action is epic and Miller’s world is sound and right back where it belongs. Loved the stylised world to bits and pieces but to be honest thought nearly any actor could have done Max’s role and that Hardy lacked the things I loved in Gibson. I thought Theron stole the scenes and found her more enjoyable onscreen – fucking loved Hoult’s character – epic and where action movies need to head – my initial description was Cirque de SolMax on Acid – looking forward to future additions.

I still can’t believe the guy who played the guitar so fucking hard for apparently the entire battle. That was nasty!

I still don’t get the silver mouths and I feel I’d need to see this another 4 times just to take in everything I was already supposed to. I admire everyone, Sean at the top of the list, who was able to write a cohesive piece about this movie because damn,t his one’s hard!

I like a good rocking end of the world kind of move, but I never saw the Mad Max series. This version looks pretty amazing, and after your review…I’m going to see it, I think. 🙂

So, leave it to Charlize Theron to look even more stunningly beautiful with a shaved head and grease smeared on her face. This movie stunned me…I have no idea how it was filmed without physically abusing all of the actors…I had to see it twice to get a better look at guitar man. Loved it!

I loved this movie so much I bought the DVD and have seen it again a number of times since. Every single time, I notice something new in it. I think it’s a fantastic movie — one of my favorites without doubt.

Absolutely! Of course, I don’t so much see new things in the movie as Witness! them. 🙂

Boy, this was good! I was a little nervous watching it, because of that kid nostalgia for certain movies and books during a specific time period growing up, but it really delivered! Fantastic!
