According to Michael Moore, we have Gwen Stefani to blame. Donald Trump found out that she was being paid more to be a judge on The Voice than he was to host The Apprentice. To prove his popularity, he staged a fake presidential run announcement. His improvisations were so blatantly racist, NBC had no choice but to fire him outright, so in a sense his move backfired, but he looked around and saw people waving placards on his name, and even if he did pay them $50 a piece to do so, he liked it.
The film is immediately and unapologetically a Michael Moore movie, its voice over irreverent and predictable. For many minutes, footage of election night seems intent on proving how little rhythm Democrats have. But eventually we get to the meat of the problem.
Historically, Michael Moore is inflammatory, but he preaches to the choir. I don’t think he’s converted anyone. And this movie isn’t going to do it, either. Republicans have proved impervious to shame or guilt or responsibility. That’s fine. Instead, this movie does something almost smart: it talks to democrats. It can’t change the idiots in the republican party or the fools who vote for them, but maybe, maybe, it can fix some of the problems in the democratic one. Because let’s face it: to elect Donald Trump, you need more than republican idiots. You need blind democrats and a whole bunch of apathy.
Who are the faces of change? The democrats have relied on an old guard for too long – an old guard who inspires no one. So grassroots candidates, minorities and women, are getting involved to steal the seats back. After all, isn’t democracy supposed to be rule by the people? I didn’t feel nearly as engaged with the film until it met up with the Parkland kids. After the shooting at their school, a fire was lit, and they were able to organize protests around the world. These kids have a passion for change that is both admirable and infectious. Their involvement in politics can’t come soon enough. Their parents and grandparents have failed them, but it’s just possible that when they storm the white house, and I mean getting elected into it rather than protesting outside it, real change may come to a system that was born broken.

When has socialism (just Communism by another name) ever improved anyone’s life in the long run other than the few at the top and those at the bottom who want others to take care of them? How is it right to take away what a person has worked for and give it to those too lazy to work? How is it right to stifle free speech at the alter of political correctness? If all you know of American “idiots” is what you see in the propaganda churned out by our Main Stream Media (who were brainwashed by socialist academia), you don’t know Americans at all. Most of us are nice, most of us are generous, and most fall to the center politically, give or take a little.

Moore is annoying as hell a lot of the time, but he does raise good points a lot of the time too.
That said I still think his one fictional film, Canadian Bacon, is his best.

Michael Moore has a certain oeuvre, to be sure. (I think that’s the word I meant.) Seems like the Dems are moving in the right direction now, considering last November’s election. Still quite a ways to go, though.
I do plan on seeing this eventually. Although, Moore will make my blood boil in righteous anger.

I haven’t watched this movie, but I’ve heard about it for sure. Great points about how the Dems helped President Apprentice win. Ugh. I think that woke up the Dems and look forward to some sanity. I’ll probably skip the movie though 😀

Michael Moore can have some good commentary but often, he goes overboard and exaggerates things. Plus, he would put himself in the film too many times which is why I can’t enjoy his films sometimes. That’s why I prefer Errol Morris and Werner Herzog. Morris because he isn’t about putting himself in films while Herzog prefers to be outside of the camera to narrate unless he needs to be in the camera.

We were a little bit bored with this documentary. It is sort of the same old, same old. But now we can add “random reporter” to those we can blame for giving D.T. ideas. You know, the one who said, “Why not just call a state of emergency so you can build the wall”?
BTW, the hair goes up on the back of my neck any time anyone says, “those too lazy to work.”
If one doesn’t like name-calling and wants everyone to be respectful, start with not generalizing about the intimate details of people’s lives whom you know nothing about.
And re: the first part of that line: “How is it right to take away what a person has worked for and give it to those too lazy to work?”………..what bubble do you live in? As far as I’m concerned, that’s happening to most of us right now, because everything I work for is taxed to death, and while everyone I know can barely make ends meet, the same doesn’t happen to the 1% who are benefiting from this administration and have historically benefited with cuts and loopholes and what have you. How is it anybody’s right to diminish our quality of life while others prosper and flourish for no apparent reason except that they already have all the wealth?!
