Avengers: Endgame is three hours of payoff for anyone who liked the MCU’s 21 other films to date. If you loved them, all the better – Endgame will fill your geeky little heart with joy. And if you couldn’t stand them? Then stay far, far away from this one as it is everything you hated about the other films times 3,000.
Without getting into details, and in the interest of avoiding spoilers, I think it’s safe to say that after Thanos turned half the universe into dust at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, the survivors are set on undoing Thanos’ finger snap. Other than that, I’m going to let you go in blind like I did, because it’s always best that way, isn’t it?

Despite being somewhat disappointed by Infinity War’s ending because it felt inevitable that it would be undone, I was still excited going into Endgame and I was not let down. For superhero fans, Endgame is three hours of greatness. So many story arcs are wrapped up in this film and each feels like a fitting conclusion to everything we’ve seen so far. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo have been here before (also directing Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War) and it shows, as they expertly manage the on-screen action. I’d say this is their best work.
We can debate that, and we can also debate whether or not Endgame is the best of the MCU movies (it’s definitely in the running). But I am confident in saying that Endgame is hands-down the most remarkable entry in the MCU and the most stunning superhero achievement so far. Endgame is a three hour film that is over in a snap, it’s a perfect capper to the last ten years of Marvel films, and it contains some of the greatest moments in the entire series, especially for the MCU’s big three, Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth).
I loved Endgame. It is far better than it needed to be, far better than I expected it to be, and an absolute must-see for every superhero fan.
I’m still weighing up on whether to see this. I haven’t really admired any of the other marvel movies and despite the excellent reviews I remain indecisive. I may take the leap but only with someone who likes the MC universe.

If you haven’t admired the other ones I don’t think this will change your mind. If you do go it’s a good idea to watch it with a fan who can fill you in on any missing details, as Endgame assumes you have seen almost all the other films.

Thank you for the tips. I definitely would need to be filled in as I watched it which would upset the other patrons. So may be it would be worth my going. Hehe

This is the worst Avenger film by far so I would definitely not recommend it. It is slow and ridiculously sentimental. The story felt rushed and there is hardly any action sequences. Everything gets tied up with the characters. The film is more about saying goodbye to them than watching a decent movie. If you are not a Marval geek then you will not enjoy this.

You seem to be part of a small minority since nearly every other Avengers fan seems to really like it. Anyhow, I decided I will not end up seeing it. Thanks for your feedback.

I CANNOT WAIT! Saying that I will wait as my bladder will not survive 3 hours and so I’d have to get the blu Ray to see what I miss in the toilet breaks so may as well just wait for it. Also need to see Capt Marvel first I think. So glad it’s great, this made my day!

I was very careful to only drink a small amount and still barely made it to the end. There definitely are not many opportunities to leave the theatre but I’d probably chance it rather than waiting for home video – I’m not that patient!

I heard there were some troubling things. Like, people were offended by something that would offend me, so I’m troubled.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about because there were two things I found offensive. I didn’t love the movie anyway, but I was a bit disturbed.

Wooohoooo, can’t wait to check this out!! I’m not reading too much into what anyone’s saying and avoiding all spoilers as I want to be a blank canvas with, hopefully, not too high expectations so I can be pleasantly surprised if they’re able to match or even exceed the previous instalments. xx

Brilliant review my friend! One point:
“Despite being somewhat disappointed by Infinity War’s ending because it felt inevitable that it would be undone…”
I never thought of that before. I see your point. Infinity War is my favourite and it makes me hungry for more. I never considered that for some, they’d be disappointed because they know it’s only a temporary ending.
Again, well done!

Thanks! I thought Infinity War was good otherwise but liked Endgame more. I am interested to see whether you feel the same way when Infinity War is your favorite.

It’s nice so many fans are finding this a satisfying ending — there was so much riding on it that it was by no means guaranteed it could live up to expectations. Personally, I have a few issues with it, more as a movie in itself than as an episode in the MCU. Still, I enjoyed it, just not unreservedly.

Excellent review, Sean! I’m delighted that you enjoyed the film and found it to be satisfying in wrapping up for the franchise, up until this point.
I adored Avengers: Endgame because it understood the appeal of superhero fiction. At its best, the genre makes our striving for normalcy all the more resonating because it’s filtered through the prism of extraordinary beings, whose responsibility and personal hangups make it hard for them to achieve this semblance of ordinariness.
The film made me appreciate why I love superhero fiction and was a genuine call to arms for the genre.

Great review. As you know, I loved it. It was definitely everything I was hoping for (and then some). Definitely a great way to end the Infinity story arc. Already seeing it twice and plan on seeing it again (multiple times more) soon.

Yassss!! I caught up on some MCU flicks ahead of this, as I knew I’d want to see it before it left the cinema and hit DVD / streaming / spoilers, etc.
Anyhoo, I’m going to see it on Thursday with a couple of pals and I’m right looking forward to it!
